Hyderabad: Police also recovered 110 kg of ganja on Friday. An inter-state gang was arrested and recovered ganja in LB Nagar here on the charge of smuggling ganja. Police said that the ganja is being smuggled from the Andhra-Odisha border to Nagpur in Maharashtra. They have registered a case and started investigation. To crack down on ganja smugglers, the police checked the mobile phones of passengers in Dhulpet on Thursday. The police checked WhatsApp groups and other social media information with excise officials to see if there were any links to the supply of ganja.

Following Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's decision to make Telangana a drug-free state, the city police have stepped up efforts to check ganja smuggling. In another shocking case, a man was found dead on the roadside in Gandhinagar on Friday morning by slitting his throat. Police said the man, aged around 40, is said to have been murdered by unidentified assailants by slitting his throat.

The local people found a blood-soaked body lying on the roadside near Kalpana Theater and informed the police officials. Police reached the spot and started investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem. Police said the man may have been a resident of the pavement, who may have been killed by assailants known to him. The police have registered a case.
