For 13 years, Hina Khan has worked in the entertainment business. She did, however, recently confess that she had always envisioned herself as a journalist, much like her idol Barkha Dutt, rather than an actor. Hina revealed that acting came to her by accident.

With the 2009 Star Plus television series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, in which she played the lead character Akshara Singhania, Hina made her acting debut. She performed the part for eight years until stepping down in 2016 to focus on other endeavors. Recently, she remembered how her friends had pushed her into going to the audition for the show.

She stated on the Curly Tales YouTube channel: "I doubt that becoming an actor was what I intended to do. Always, my goal was to work in journalism. I used to be a tremendous fan of Barkha Dutt. However, fate had different ideas. I went to the audition because my buddies essentially forced me to because they were holding auditions in Delhi. After being requested to travel to Bombay after being chosen in the first round, I started shooting after passing all the rounds. As a result, this is how my acting journey began."

Prior to getting her acting job, Hina also remembered working at a contact centre. "Some females I knew in my PG used to work at a call centre, and they used to make decent money," the woman remarked. They claimed, "We simply phone folks and request that they settle your bill." You just have to frighten them and reprimand them, I added. I have the ability to complete the task. Also there, I was the highest collector on the floor for the first month. My initial payment was $45,000. My salary was $250,000, but because I made such a good collection, I also received $45,000 in bonuses. I would tell them my heartbreaking tales and threaten to have them evict me if they didn't get paid.

All of this was completed by me. I was acting badly. Perhaps I would have remained there in some capacity if acting hadn't occurred.

Hina took part in reality competitions Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi after Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She has also acted in movies including Smartphone, Hacked, and Unlock in addition to playing Komolika, the antagonist in Kasautii Zindagii Kay.
