Two persons who came in a car and a two-wheeler to inject drugs in the Ittari stream area in Bothanur, Coimbatore were injected with drugs last evening. The two youths, who were intoxicated, took the boys who were playing there and incited them to inject drugs. The locals who saw this informed the Pothanur Grama Nirbhaya Officer. Upon receiving the information, Pothanur Grama Niladhari Balathuraisamy went there with his assistant and fled, leaving behind a car and injections and pills.

When the village administration officer Balathuraisamy inquired about this, it was revealed that they were Imran Khan and Abu Bakar Siddiqui from Bothanur Sainagar area. Following this, Grama Niladhari Balathuraisamy lodged a complaint at the Bothanur police station. Police rushed to the spot and confiscated the car and injections and pills. Police also arrested two youths, Imran Khan and Abu Bakar Siddiqui, who were roaming around the Bothanur area, and charged them under both sections of the Narcotics Control Act and the Juvenile Justice Act and remanded them in custody.
