India has become the champion by defeating Canada in the international kabaddi tournament being organized by the Punjab government dedicated to the 550th Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. India defeated Canada by a margin of 65–19 in the final match played at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium in Dera Baba Nanak on Tuesday. From the beginning of the match, India started to hold its own on the match. India scored 21 points in the first half while the Canadian team was able to score four points.

In the final, the Indian team's raider Kamal Nawan Pind was voted the best raider. Kamal dismissed 11 players from the Canadian team. His performance was worth watching. Indian team catcher Ranjodh Jodha was adjudged the best catcher. Ranjodh caught eight players from the opposing team. Prior to this, the match between the USA and England teams was played for third place. The USA defeated England by 10 points in a thrilling contest. The USA team scored 43 points while the England team remained on 33 points.

Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi attended the World Kabaddi Cup final as the chief guest. Jail and Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Cabinet Minister Trupt Rajinder Bajwa and Faridkot MP Mohammad Sadique were also specially present on the occasion.

The winning Indian team of the World Kabaddi Cup was awarded Rs 25 lakh and the trophy. The second-placed Canadian team was awarded Rs 15 lakh. USA team, ranked third, was awarded Rs 10 lakh in prize money.
