Bakhtiyarpur: On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced that if the "I.N.D.I.A. bloc" comes to power, they would scrap the Agnipath recruitment scheme and provide Rs 8,500 monthly to women. During election rallies in Bihar, he confidently stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not be re-elected, citing strong national support for the INDIA bloc.

Gandhi addressed a crowd in Bakhtiyarpur, declaring, "When the INDIA bloc forms the government, the Agnipath scheme will be scrapped." This scheme, introduced by Modi’s government in 2022, recruits young soldiers called 'Agniveers' on a four-year contract, with 75% retiring without the same benefits as regular soldiers.

Criticizing the scheme, Gandhi said, "Modi Ji has reduced soldiers to laborers. The government has created two classes in the Army—Agniveer and regular soldiers. Injured or martyred Agniveers are denied martyr status and compensation. Why this discrimination?"

Gandhi further promised that from July, a new INDIA bloc government would deposit Rs 8,500 monthly into women's accounts, aiming to improve families' financial conditions.

Mocking Modi’s claim of being 'sent by God,' Gandhi joked, "After June 4, if questioned about corruption, Modi will claim ignorance, saying 'I was sent by God.'"

Gandhi accused Modi of creating 22 billionaires and vowed that an INDIA bloc government would create millions of millionaires. He also criticized Modi for allegedly forgiving Rs 16 lakh crore in loans for billionaire friends, a move he claimed the country would never forgive.

In another rally in Paliganj, Gandhi emphasized the importance of the election, stating it was crucial to save the country, the constitution, democracy, and reservations for the poor. He also promised that an INDIA bloc government would reopen closed industries and fill 30 lakh job vacancies.

The rallies were attended by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, CPI (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, VIP chief Mukesh Sahni, and other INDIA bloc leaders.
