New Delhi: In the crisis of Corona epidemic, Indian Railways is creating new records one after the other. Now the Indian Railways has achieved a major achievement in terms of running the engine of the train. Indian Railways has designed a battery-powered engine and has also successfully tested it. That means in a few days, trains running on batteries can now be seen running on the tracks.

According to the railway, this engine has been designed to save electricity and diesel consumption. While giving the information, the Indian Railways has told that a battery-operated dual-mode shunting loco 'Navdoot' has been made in Jabalpur division of West Central Railway, tested successfully. This battery-powered loco will be an important step in saving diesel as well as environmental protection. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted, "This battery-powered loco is a sign of a bright future, which will prove to be an important step in saving foreign exchange with diesel and conserving the environment".

The Railways are running trains with the power of solar energy. Railways completed its preparations and set up a solar power plant in Bina, Madhya Pradesh. It will generate power of 1.7 megawatt and will directly reach the overhead of the trains. Railways claim that India is the first country in the world to do so. Before this, no country has done this in the history of railways.
