New Delhi: The teansion between India and China has increased in several times in recent times. There have been clashes between the two armies on the border several times. Experts consider China more dangerous for India than Pakistan. India too has become cautious about this. And it has begun to edge preparations on the Chinese border. Under this, the Indian Army is planning to deploy its state-of-the-art American weaponry along the India-China border, including the new M777 ultra-light howitzer cannon and Chinook heavy-lift helicopter along the Arunachal Pradesh borders with China.

As part of its preparations, more than 5000 soldiers of the Indian Army's only Mountain Strike Corps will undertake large-scale war-like exercises to practice the actual war-like situation on the country's eastern front. The war fighting capabilities of the new 17 Mountain Strike Corps in Arunachal Pradesh will be tested under a maneuver known as the codename 'Himvijay'. The exercise will also include the Indian Air Force (IAF), which will assist them under drills in war-like situations.

The M777 ultra-light howitzer was inducted into the Indian Army at Deoli near Nashik along with the K-9 Vajra and Dhanush Howitzer. The Indian Army is to include a total of 145 M777 howitzers. The M777 howitzer is primarily used for combat in mountainous areas, as Chinook heavy-lift helicopters in high altitude areas in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh have the capability to carry their light and caliber airplanes. In recent times, there has been a lot of tension with China on many issues including Doklam.
