Indore: Ahead of the urban local body elections, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Sunday that if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins, Indore will surpass Bengaluru and Hyderabad in terms of development in the next ten years.

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader met with party workers to discuss preparations for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh urban local body elections.

During a press conference, Chouhan announced to reporters, "Elections for rural local bodies have been held, and elections for urban bodies are about to be held. The BJP is required for growth; the BJP's municipal corporation includes the Indore metropolitan and district. The BJP's personnel have done a better job in rural areas, as a result of which we are moving forward at a faster pace."

"In the next ten years, I believe Indore will surpass Bengaluru and Hyderabad in terms of growth, but this will require the BJP to win the municipal corporation elections. The BJP should be elected as mayor. The meeting was about planning, and our employees are prepared."

The three-tier Madhya Pradesh panchayat polls will be held in three parts - June 25, July 1 and July 8 - with vote counting taking place on July 8, 11, 14 and 15. In the 52 districts, elections will be held for 22,921 village panchayats, 22,921 sarpanch posts, 3,63,726 panchayat members, 6771 members of 313 jumped panchayats, and 875 district panchayat members.

The dates for the panchayat elections have been set, but the dates for the party-based urban body elections have yet to be declared. The mayor will be elected directly by the voters in these elections, whereas the officeholders in the municipal corporation will be elected by the councillors.
