Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar, known as the God of Cricket, penned an emotional note after his son Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Arjun Tendulkar has become the first son to play for the same IPL franchise that was represented by his father, Sachin Tendulkar, for many years.

Opening the bowling, left-arm fast bowler Arjun gave away five runs in the first over of his IPL career. He also made a tremendous appeal for LBW against Jagadishan, but the umpire turned it down, as it seemed that the ball was going over the stumps. In his second over, he was hit for a four and a six by Venkatesh Iyer of KKR. Eventually, even after KKR's Venkatesh Iyer scored a century, Arjun returned with figures of 0/17 in a match that ended with Mumbai winning by 5 wickets.

After this match, Sachin tweeted with pictures of father and son and wrote, 'Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves, and the game will love you back.' Master Blaster Tendulkar wrote, 'You have worked hard to reach here, and I am sure you will continue to do so. This is the beginning of a beautiful journey. Best wishes.'

23-year-old Arjun has been with the Mumbai Indians for the last few years. He was selected for the auction in 2021 but had to withdraw due to injury. He was also selected in the 2022 auction, but last year he did not get a chance to play a single match. He got the opportunity to be with his father Sachin in the dugout of Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
