A statement issued by the US Department of Defense stated that, "On the direction of President Trump, the US military carried out this decisive protective action for the protection of America, including Major General Qasim Sulemani, Chief of the Kurdish Army of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Has died The statement said, "General Sulemani was planning an attack on American diplomats and service members in Iraq and that region."
