Israel and Romania Strengthen Ties Amid Middle East Challenges

Israel's Foreign Minister met with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and addressing the ongoing situation in the Middle East. The meeting took place on Thursday, where both leaders expressed their commitment to mutual cooperation and regional security.

Israel's Foreign Minister thanked Odobescu for Romania’s steadfast support following the October 7 Hamas attack. He emphasized that Israel’s conflict is part of a broader struggle, referring to it as “the war of the entire Western world against the Iranian axis of evil and its allies.” He also announced plans to visit Romania at the end of the month to further solidify the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Odobescu described the talks as "fruitful," focusing on enhancing Israel-Romania relations and expanding cooperation across various fields. She stressed the importance of boosting political contacts and strengthening the collaboration between both countries.

During her visit, Odobescu also met with families of Israelis with Romanian roots who are currently held hostage in Gaza. She expressed deep emotion, stating that Romania remains committed to working towards the immediate release of all hostages. "Romania will continue its efforts to ensure the safe return of all captives," she pledged.
