The Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said, the opinion and sentiments of the people of North East has been conveyed to the NSCN (IM) an armed Naga Group that everyone thinks it is the time to sign the final peace accord. The Assam minister said that the center is constantly working towards a final solution that is in line with the history and traditions of the Naga Society. He asked they should sign the agreement and lead Nagaland to have a long satisfying solution and the entire North East is looking for the NSCN to ink the deal.

Assam Minister and Nagaland CM has been appealed by the center to assist the center in clearing the hurdles in the peace process after NSCN was stubborn on separate flag and constitution and the removal of the Nagaland Governor. "In the agreement which needs to be signed, there is some much of sensitivities involved. We feel there has been a combination of efforts and thus, there is involvement of politicians, bureaucrats and even civil society; the Centre is involving all whenever necessary on a daily basis to iron out the deadlock," Mr Sarma added. He said when NSCN (IM) thought process for Naga Civil Society is same as that of the center, why NSCN (IM) should refuse it.

The center has continued the informal discussion with NSCN(IM) leaders through the Intelligent Bureau (IB). The center is also trying to escalate the level of talks with involvement of individuals or groups or in any other convenient way beyond the interlocutor.
