Ranchi: The Maruti Kumari petrol murder case has simmered the anger of the people of Jharkhand. Villagers are protesting by placing the body of the dead girl at Nonihat Chowk on Dumka-Bhagalpur main road. The protesters are now demanding the hanging of the girl's killer. A police force has been deployed on the spot in large numbers. Every effort is being made to maintain peace. At the same time, BJP workers including Godda MP Nishikant Dubey and former Social Welfare Minister Louis Marandi have joined this protest.

Maruti Kumari, a first-year student of the college, was set on fire by a man named Rajesh Raut after pouring petrol on her. The victim died while being taken to Ranchi for better treatment the previous day. Earlier, the victim was admitted to Phoolo Jhano Medical College.

In an injured condition, the girl had told the police in her statement that she had refused to marry. Angered by this, the madman poured petrol and burnt him alive. The criminal fled after the incident. However, the police have arrested the culprit Rajesh. The criminal is already married and wanted to marry Maruti Kumari, but the woman and her family did not agree to this marriage. Maruti and Rajesh knew each other since 2019. According to the victim's statement, the culprit had threatened to kill her just like Ankita. Ankita Singh, a class 12 student, was burnt to death in Dumka district in August this year.
