Bengaluru: A horrific road accident has taken place in Karnataka, in which at least 13 people have been killed and five others are said to be seriously injured in a collision between two cars near Kunigal in Tumkuru, Karnataka on Friday. Police has given information in this regard. Women and children are among those killed in the accident.

While giving information about the accident to the media, the police said that 12 of the 13 people died on the spot while one child died during treatment in the hospital. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Among the dead, 10 people are said to be from Tamil Nadu and three from Bengaluru. All were pilgrims who were visiting a shrine in Karnataka.

The police said that five women and two children were among the dead. Tumkuru Superintendent of Police (SP) KV Krishna has told that, "13 people have died. The accident occurred after midnight. One car crashed into a road divider and another car crashed into it. "The police had to struggle hard to get the bodies from the damaged vehicles. Police have sent the dead bodies for post-mortem.
