New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has indefinitely adjourned a petition challenging the validity and constitutional validity of the Kejriwal government's decision to exclude private doctors from the compensation policy relating to family members of doctors who died due to the Corona pandemic (COVID-19) while performing their duty during the pandemic.

Justice V Kameshwar Rao adjourned the matter after hearing arguments of the Delhi government and the petitioner's lawyers. The Delhi government's counsel told the court that the victim, who is a doctor, was 85 years old in the case and was running his own private clinic. He was neither assigned nor empanelled for COVID-19 duty by the Delhi government. They are not covered under the scheme. On the other hand, advocate Ashok Agarwal said that the matter pertaining to private doctors is sub-judice before the High Court and the division bench of the apex court. The court then adjourned the matter sine die till the disposal of those petitions.

The plea said the Delhi government had excluded private doctors and paramedical staff from the policy of Rs 1 crore financial assistance to the family members of 'Corona Warriors' who died due to coronavirus while performing COVID-19 duty.
