The Kerala Assembly unanimously passed a resolution urging the central government to lift this ban. At the same time, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi of Wayanad has also supported the protest being expressed by many organizations against this ban. But the Supreme Court has categorically refused to lift this ban.
Despite this in the apex court, the Kerala government has said in its affidavit that the present route of Bandipur Tiger Reserve is decades old. Banning it is discrimination against people living around the reserve. This is affecting the right of people living around the reserve to move and move anywhere. The Kerala government has said that this ban has been imposed without any scientific study or findings. In the affidavit, the Kerala government has said that there is no restriction on movement through the Kaziranga National Park in Assam, Kanha and Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
