Kochi:Two more priests who attended a meeting organized by the CSI Church in violation of corona protocol in Munnar,  have lost their lives . On Wednesday, Bino Kumar, pastor of Ambalakala Parishad in Thiruvananthapuram, and Y Devprasad, pastor of western Mount Church, were reported to have died due to corona infection.

After which the number of priests who died after attending the annual event of the CSI Church has gone up to four. According to the information, both the patients were undergoing treatment at Karakonam Medical College Hospital for the last three weeks.  About 450 priests, including Dharmaraj Rasalam, Bishop and CSI Moderator of Southern Kerala, participated in the annual church retreat held in Munnar recently. After which about eighty priests, including the bishop, have been infected by Covid. The condition of some of the priests involved in the treatment is said to be critical.

Meanwhile, the Idukki district collector has submitted an inquiry report to the government for holding the meeting in violation of the covid rules given by the Devikulam Deputy Collector. The inquiry report said that the church CSI violated the guidelines by organizing the meeting even after knowing the Covid protocol. The report also recommends strict action against the culprits.
