Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi epic 'Dune' has won the most nominations for the 2022 BAFTA Awards on Thursday, followed by Jane Campion's Western movie 'The Power of the Dog.' The author has unveiled the nominations through British TV celebrities AJ Odudu and Tom Allen and Dune, based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, receiving 11 nominations, including Best Movie, Adapted Screenplay, Original Score and all 8 technical categories. 'The Power of the Dog' has received 8 nominations, with lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch also making it to the Best Actor category, while his co-stars, Jesse Pellemans and Cody Smit-McAfee, have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Dunne has started with very good performances, with many surprises in the form of films like Maggie Gyllenhall's 'The Lost Daughter,' Nicole Kidman-starrer 'Being the Ricardos,' Andrew Garfield's 'Musical Tick Tick Tick... Boom'. And Ethan Coen's 'Macbeth' has been rejected in the major categories.

'Belfast' gets 6 nominations: In the race for Best Movie, there is Adam McKay's 'Don't Look Up,' 'Belfast,' 'Licorice Pizza' and 'The Power of the Dog' with Dune. Andrew Garfield and Denzel Washington, who received praise from everyone for their performance in Lynn Manuel Miranda's 'Tick Tick... Boom' and have also been overlooked in McBeth's categories.

Belfast's 'Catriona Balf' and 'The Lost Daughter' 'Jessie Buckley' are notable names in the best-supporting actress category, with Ariana Debos (West Side Story), Ann Doud (Mass), Ann Ellis (King Richard) and Ruth Nega (Passing) also on the list.

According to the British Academy, the nominations include 48 films, slightly down from 50 titles in 2021. Overall, the number of female directors nominated across all categories has increased to 12 vs 8 in 2021.
