Maharashtra govt doing a better job than center: Anna Hazare

Pune: Maharashtra's Devendra Fadnavis government is doing a good job as compared to the central government. The major statement was made by social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday. The Lokayukta law is being drafted in the State on the lines of the central Lokpal to put a brake on corruption. The state's corrupt ministers and bureaucrats will be dealt with after the approval of the monsoon session. This belief has been expressed by Anna.

The Joint Drafting Committee met on Tuesday evening, according to information obtained from the sources. Before joining it, Anna said that the process of framing a new Lokayukta law in the state has finally begun to rein in corruption, office negligence, recovery and abuse of office officials.

At the same meeting, the Joint Drafting Committee appointed by the State Government to draft the LOKAYUKTA act at the state level in accordance with the Central Ombudsman Act was launched on Tuesday at Yashda in Pune. Anna informed that the draft Lokayukta Act will be drafted in the meeting. The law will also be a guiding force, just like the RTI Act. The central government has approved the Lokpal-Lokayukta Act in 2011 and appointed the Lokpal at the center level. Thereafter, it was necessary to enact a Lokayukta law in every state within a year.
