Flood wreaks havoc in Sangli, 11 people killed as boat overturn

Sangli: Several districts of Maharashtra are reeling under severe flood due to incessant rains. While Mumbai is experiencing intermittent rains, districts like Pune, Nashik and Sangli are reeling under severe floods. NDRF teams are constantly engaged in relief and rescue operations. Now it is reported that a boat carrying 30 people overturned in Palus Taluka in Sangli. At least 11 people have been killed in the incident.

According to information, the bodies of nine people have been recovered. According to the information received, the accident occurred when a boat carrying people overturned in the Brahmanal area of Palus Taluka in Sangli. There were 30 people sitting in the boat. Out of which 19 people were rescued safely while 11 died after being submerged in water. At present, the bodies of nine people have been recovered.

The dead include 4 women, 3 men and 2 children. The search for the remaining two people continues. The flood water also entered the district jail of Sangli. A total of 360 inmates jailed were disturbed by the influx of flood water. The jail was flooded with water from four to five feet. In order to save the prisoners, the prison administration called for a boat and started trying to take them to a safer place.
