The 56-year-old citizen of Kyoto, Japan, arrived in India in March 2019, according to the authorities. When she arrived in Agra, she was unable to find her accommodation and stopped to ask Hussain, a local, for help.

Hussain offered to give her a tour of the city the next day. Later, he is alleged to have defrauded her of Rs. 23 lakh to purchase jewellery, which he then promised to ship back to Japan after clearing customs.

She then went back to Japan, but she never got the jewellery.
