Hyderabad: The police has arrested a carpenter for kidnapping a nine-year-old girl and also trying to rape her in Jeedimetla area of the city.

The victim is a class IVth student and the incident occured last evening when she got down from her school bus and the man offered her lift.

As per the reports, the sub-inspector said, "The accused, identified as Sharat Chary, under the pretext of offering lift to the girl to her house on his bike took her to an isolated place at a distance of around 3 km, where he allegedly attempted to rape her".

The case has been registered against the accused under sections of IPC and also under the POSCO Act.
