New Delhi: A policeman has died in the country's capital amid violent protests in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Even after this, the violence has not cooled down. The continuing conflict over the law has become uncontrollable. Protesters and supporters have come face to face on CAA. On Monday, stone pelting was done on both sides and many vehicles were set on fire in Maujpur.

The ruckus started from 11 am and continued till about 2 in the afternoon. The stone-pelting between the two groups stopped for some time, but in the evening, violence erupted again in different areas. By evening, the protest spread to other areas as well. Violence erupted in Karawal Nagar at five in the evening, and 15 minutes later, the mob set ablaze a petrol pump in Bhajanpura. The protesters set DCP Shahdara's car on fire near Chand Bagh market amid the Jafrabad-Maujpur violence.

DCP Amit Sharma has also been injured in this clash and he has been admitted to Max Hospital in Patparganj. Seeing the worsening of the situation, Section-144 has been implemented in the North East District. While issuing advisory, Delhi Metro has said that in view of the demonstrations and violence, it is closing the gates of the metro in disturbed areas. Jafarabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokulpuri, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar metro stations have been closed as a precaution.
