New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under Modi Government has approved the implementation of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) project, which will cost Rs. 3,375 crore from 2022-23 to 2025-26.

Phase II of the ICJS initiative, led by Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah, will be a step toward guaranteeing effective and modern police. As a Central Sector Scheme, the project will be implemented.

The ICJS system would be accessible via a dedicated cloud-based infrastructure with high-speed connectivity. The initiative will be implemented by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) in collaboration with the National Informatics Center (NIC). The project will be carried out in partnership with the states and union territories.

Individual IT systems were deployed and established during Phase I of the ICJS project, and record searches were enabled on these systems. The system is being created on the premise of "one data, one entry" in Phase-II, which means that data is entered just once in one pillar and is then available in all other pillars without the need to re-enter the data in each one.
