New Delhi: The National Population Register (NPR) was discussed in the Modi Cabinet meeting today. It is being told that the meeting of the Central Cabinet has been sealed on the NPR i.e. National Population Register. It is being told that NRP can be implemented by 2020. The purpose of the Population Register is to create a database of comprehensive identification of the citizens of the country. In this, along with counting the number of people, there will also be biometric information.

The government of West Bengal and Kerala is opposing NPR. Please tell that in 2010, the initiative to form NPR started in the Manmohan Singh government. At the same time, between the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the heated up on the NRC, the Central Government has once again started putting the National Population Register (NPR) on the surface. It was being told that the renewal of NPR has been approved in the cabinet meeting held today.

The West Bengal and Kerala governments have also opposed NPR. Although it is different from NRC in every way. Under the National Population Register (NPR), a nationwide house-to-house census is being prepared to prepare a database of citizens from April 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020.
