New Delhi: There was a heated debate between the UP government and the Punjab government's lawyers in the apex court today on the demand to send Mukhtar Ansari back from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, it was argued by Mukhtar that his life is in danger in Uttar Pradesh, so he should be transferred to Delhi. The hearing was incomplete today. The bench of Justice Ashok Bhushan and Subhash Reddy will continue it tomorrow.

The hearing began with the plea of Mukhtar's lawyer Mukul Rohatgi. Rohatgi said that Mukhtar has been an MLA 5 times. Now he claims his life is in danger in UP. In some cases, his accused Munna Bajrangi was killed while moving rom one jail in the state to another. If the dispute is on why he is in Punjab jail then all the cases against him should be transferred to Delhi. On this, the court said that the things put on their behalf will be considered.

After this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta started giving arguments on behalf of the UP government. He said that the whole matter is like a film plot. First, a case was registered in Punjab. Then the Punjab Police reached Banda Jail in UP. The Banda Jail Superintendent, who knows the law well, handed it over to the Punjab Police without obtaining permission from the court. Mehta alleged a nexus between the Punjab Police and Mukhtar.
