Mumbai: The police has arrested the 30-year-old son of the deceased woman in a shocking case of the corpse found in several pieces in Mumbai, the country's financial capital. An official of the Ghatkopar police station said on Thursday that Sohail Sheikh, a suburban Kurla, had drunk his mother's throat on December 28 after being drunk, and later torn to pieces.

He said that the accused had a habit of drinking alcohol and did not even earn. The wife of the accused had also left him a few months ago. According to the official, there was a dispute between Sheikh and his mother on December 28 and after that, he strangled his mother to death. Sheikh said that he had no idea what he had done until the next morning. First, he went to the local dargah, but could not find any way to locate the dead body. He then thought of throwing the corpse to pieces from a crime-based show on TV.

The officer said Sheikh sliced the dead bodies and threw them at different places. The body of the deceased was found on 30 December on Kirod Road in Vidyavihar, after which the police registered a case of murder. The next day, the legs wrapped in Rexine sheets were found from the litter box in suburban Ghatkopar. On January 4, police recovered the head from under a bridge on the Santacruz-Chembur link road. He said that the Sheikh's identity was identified by CCTV footage at all three sites, after which he was arrested.
