Lucknow: The bloodied bodies of a mother and daughter were found lying on a cot in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha on Sunday morning. Serious injury marks were found on both of them. The deceased woman is a widow and lived with her daughter in her in-laws' house. The deceased woman's parents have said that she was murdered by her in-laws for land. Police are investigating the case.

The double murder case has come to light from Kankather village of Brajghat chowki under police station Gajraula of Amroha. Mithlesh (38), wife of late Pawan, lived with her 10-year-old daughter Yashi in Kankather. She has her in-laws in Kankather and her elder son lives with his maternal grandfather in Bahapur village under the Hasanpur police station area. On Sunday morning, the Brajghat outpost received news of the mother and daughter's bodies lying. The villagers told the police who reached the spot that when Mithlesh did not open the door on Sunday morning, we got suspicious. We then opened the gates of the house and somehow entered and saw the bleeding bodies of Mithlesh and Yashi lying on a cot in the courtyard.

On receiving the news of the murder of his daughter and granddaughter, Mithlesh's family members, who reached Kankather, created a ruckus in front of the Gajraula police station and accused Mithlesh's in-laws' side of killing the mother and daughter. The family members told the police that Mithlesh's husband Pawan had died due to serious illness a few years ago. Since then, she was living with her daughter in a separate house. The panchayat was also held several times due to the dispute over ancestral land. Panic has spread in many villages after the shocking case of mother-daughter murder came to light. Police from several police stations have been deployed in the village to ensure that the atmosphere does not deteriorate.
