Nashik: Maharashtra's Nashik Police Commissioner Jayant Naikanavare has withdrawn the order issued by the former commissioner regarding the loudspeaker. In fact, Deepak Pandey, a former commissioner, had ordered not to play any religious hymns and songs on loudspeakers 15 minutes before and after Azaan within 100 metres of mosques in Nashik. Several Hindu organisations had objected to this.

Now Nashik Police Commissioner Jayant Naikanavare has withdrawn the decision. However, the Supreme Court's 2005 order on loudspeakers will continue. Earlier, former Commissioner Deepak Pandey had issued an order that permission has to be taken to play Hanuman Chalisa or bhajans on the loudspeaker. In addition, it will not be allowed within 15 minutes before and after Azaan. It will not be allowed within 100 meters of the mosque. He had said that the order was given to maintain peace and order.

From UP to Maharashtra, the battle over loudspeakers and Hanuman Chalisa continues. In fact, recently, Raj Thackeray had issued an ultimatum to remove loudspeakers from mosques. Not only that, he had said that if the loudspeakers are not removed, MNS workers will recite Hanuman Chalisa outside the mosque. Amidst all this, former Nashik Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey had issued an order that permission will have to be taken to play the Hanuman Chalisa.
