Jammu and Kashmir: Old leaders gets active in politics, the equation is going to change

Old political leaders have become active once again to prove their importance in the changed circumstances on the political stage of centrally governed Jammu and Kashmir. These leaders want to create a new front, which will have full influence not only in the valley but also in Jammu division. The expelled leaders of the People's Democratic Party, who have been ministers in the PDP-BJP coalition government, are using their full influence in preparing a possible front.

For your information, let us tell you that both are considered to have good influence not only in Delhi but also in some places abroad. One of these leaders has recently returned from traveling abroad. These people, who are engaged in preparing a new political organization, are agreeing to start their politics with the slogan of granting full statehood status to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The central government wants to conduct assembly elections in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir by March-April 2020. The National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party have indicated to stay away from the election process till the resumption of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir before August 5. All the major leaders of these two parties are under house arrest or in custody. The Congress is also not fully active.

Apart from this, in the changed environment, it is proving difficult for the regional parties to go before the public, because the issues on which they have been seeking votes from the people have completely ended. The Central Government has taken several measures at its level during the last four months to accelerate political activities in Jammu and Kashmir, which have not been seen to be successful so far.
