Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik in a money laundering case related to the activities of the Mumbai underworld. NCP leader Nawab Malik was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the morning. Subsequently, he was arrested. After the arrest, Nawab Malik said that I will fight, not be afraid.
Ahead of his arrest, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) official said malik, a 62-year-old Nationalist Congress Party leader, arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Ballard Estate area here at 8 am and the agency was recording his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Nawab Malik has been in the news for the past few months, ever since he levelled personal and service-related allegations against Sameer Wankhede, the former director of the Mumbai region of the anti-drugs agency NCB. Malik's son-in-law Sameer Khan was arrested by the NCB in connection with a drug case last year.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had conducted a raid in Mumbai on February 15 and registered a fresh case in connection with the activities of the underworld, alleged illegal sale of property and hawala transactions. After that, Malik has been arrested. The agency had raided 10 places, including the premises of Salim Qureshi, Haseena Parkar, the late sister of 1993 bombing mastermind Dawood Ibrahim, brother Iqbal Kaskar and Chhota Shakeel's associate.
