AYODHYA: Exciting news is on the horizon for Ayodhya and Varanasi as plans for a Water Metro Service akin to the highly successful Kochi Water Metro are underway. This innovative project, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year in April, aims to transform the transportation landscape in these historic cities.

The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is gearing up to introduce the Water Metro Service in both Ayodhya and Varanasi, both significant cultural and religious centers in India and crucial constituencies for Prime Minister Modi.

Sunil Kumar Singh, Vice Chairman of IWAI, has confirmed that two Water Metro vessels have already made their journey from Kochi to Kolkata, marking a significant step towards their final destinations in Ayodhya and Varanasi.

Anticipation is building as the Ayodhya-bound vessel is slated to arrive at its destination around January 14-15, 2024. Sources within the Ayodhya administration have hinted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Water Metro service in Ayodhya on January 22, coinciding with the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla.

This Water Metro service, which will operate between Guptar Ghat and Naya Ghat, is poised to give a significant boost to religious tourism in Ayodhya. The convenience and accessibility it offers are anticipated to make it easier for pilgrims and tourists to navigate between the religious sites in the city.

Excitement in Ayodhya is palpable as two jetties from Kolkata have already reached the city, marking the physical commencement of this transformative project. The forthcoming Water Metro Service is set to not only improve transportation but also elevate the overall travel experience for residents and visitors alike in Ayodhya and Varanasi.
