Dehradun: Heavy rain has worsened the situation of the mountains. In Uttarakhand, the weather is taking a severe toll. Landslide incidents are being reported in Rudraprayag due to heavy rains. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the next 24 hours could prove to be serious for Uttarakhand. In fact, the IMD has warned of heavy rain in many cities of the states.  

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), many districts of the state including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar are likely to receive very heavy rainfall at isolated places with heavy rainfall. In this regard, the collectors of the districts have also been instructed to be vigilant. Schools are on holiday in view of the red alert issued by the MET department for rain today (Wednesday), July 20 in several cities of Uttarakhand. Nine of the 13 districts in the state have a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

In view of the warning regarding very heavy rains, a holiday has been declared in all schools and other educational institutions in several districts other than Dehradun and Tehri. Apart from Uttarakhand, several areas of Himachal Pradesh are also reeling under heavy rains. The Mall Road of Manali, popularly known for its beauty, has been discoloured by the muddy water. On the other hand, Lahaul-Spiti has also received heavy rainfall after the drought. Along with this, the cases of landslides are also coming to light. The debris on the roads is yet to be removed and the IMD has issued an orange alert for the rain. People have been warned not to go to sensitive places.
