CAA: Home Ministry gives written reply in Lok Sabha, letter opens big disclosure

On Tuesday, the Home Ministry said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that the government has not yet taken any decision to prepare the National Citizenship Register (NCR) at the national level. In response to a question during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that the government has not taken any decision on the NRC till now.

Regarding this law, he said in a written reply, "Till now, no decision has been taken to prepare NRC for Indian citizens at the national level." This question was asked by MP Chandan Singh and Nageswara Rao. He asked if the government has any plan to bring NRC in the country and if the government is planning it, then what is its last date.

Apart from this, he asked, 'Has the Center did any discussion with the states about this? Has the government received any letter from the states for not implementing NRC and if any such letter has been received, what is the state-wise information. There will be some softening in the protests taking place across the country.'
