Nizamabad: 12 shepherds got trapped in the Manjira river of Nizamabad district. Due to heavy rains in Nizamabad district on Wednesday, residents of several colonies had to go through knee-deep water. This forced many people to stay indoors. According to the information received, 12 shepherds of Takli village of Madnoor mandal of Kamareddy district got trapped along with 600 sheep due to flood in Manjira river on the outskirts of Kodicharla village of Kotagiri mandal of Nizamabad district on Tuesday night. It is worth noting that due to continuous rain for the last two days, the Manjira river has been flooded.

Kotagiri SI Ramu, revenue officers and his staff reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation throughout the night and all were rescued by Wednesday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the southwest monsoon has been normal over Telangana. Compared to other districts of the state, Nizamabad district recorded heavy rains on Wednesday.

Navipet in Nizamabad recorded the highest rainfall of 126.2 mm, while Bodhan and Maklur recorded 119 mm and 110.2 mm respectively. The Met department in its daily weather bulletin said Yedapalle recorded 98.2 mm of rain. After Nizamabad, heavy rains were recorded in Jagtial. Jagtial and Metapalle in the district recorded 56 mm and 40.2 mm of rainfall respectively.
