Ranveer Singh’s starrer ’83 is making quite a buzz since its inception. The film is based on the Indian cricket team’s world cup victory in 1983, has been in the news for a while., Ranveer, who will be playing Kapil Dev in the film, is being trained by the maestro himself, on the field and in the nets. In fact, Kapil has on separate occasions expressed his joy about the casting decision of Ranveer Singh. But you might be surprised to know that its not Ranveer Singh but this actor was to play Kapil Dev in the biopic. 

According to the report, filmmaker Kabir Khan took over the reigns for 83, it was set to be directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. If fact, Sanjay wanted to cast actor Randeep Hooda to play Kapil Dev. The actor’s look test was done as well and the makers were statisfied. However, due to circumstances, Sanjay was no longer attached to the projects and neither was Randeep Hooda.

According to the source, “Before Ranveer Singh, the role was offered to actor Randeep Hooda. This was when the film was to be directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. This was formally announced and the look test was done too. But due to some circumstances, the project went into the hands of Kabir Khan and Ranveer bagged the role.”

Talking about ’83, it also stars Saqib Saleem, who will essay the role of the Indian all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath while actor Tahir Raj Bhavin is set to portray Sunil Gavaskar, the ‘Little Master’. In addition to them, other actors in the film as as follows: R Badree, Harrdy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk and Saahil Khattar.
