Chennai: Two trucks full of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) notes going from Chennai to Villupuram broke down on the way. After this the trucks had to be stopped at Tambaram itself. One of the two trucks had some technical glitch. A team of police officers was also deployed along with the truck on the National Highway. When it was learned that the truck carrying Rs 535 crore had broken down on the way, the Chromepet police rushed to the spot.

After this, additional police personnel were also called on the spot for the security of the truck. This RBI truck had set out from Chennai's RBI Kerala to deliver money to Villupuram. When the truck broke down, it was taken to the National Institute of Siddha in Tambaram, Chennai for security reasons. Tambaram's assistant commissioner Srinivas reached the spot, then he decided to move the truck to a safer place. After being taken to Siddha Institute, the entry of people there was banned. The mechanics could not fix the truck there, so the truck was towed and shifted to RBI in Chennai. The total cash in both the trucks was Rs 1070 crore.

Explain that RBI sends cash with very tight security. Good trucks are also selected for this. Generally new trucks are used, so that they do not break down quickly on the way. Security is also arranged with the trucks.
