Islam's holiest site 'Mecca' to open 6 months later

The holiest site of Islam, the Grand Mosque of Mecca will now be open to Muslims. Now, people have been allowed to come for Umrah. The restrictions were in force for the last six months due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic. Saudi Arabia has now decided to open it in several phase.

During the first phase, only Saudi Arabian persons will be allowed to come to the Grand Mosque on 4th October. The people coming during the will be 6,000. The second phase will commence on 18th October. Even during the second phase, only Saudi Arabian persons will get an entry in the Grand Mosque. But, in the meantime, a total of 65 thousand persons will be allowed to come to the mosque.

Saudi Interior Ministry says that in the third phase, persons living outside Saudi Arabia will also be allowed to come to Umrah from November one. A total of 80 thousand persons may be allowed to come here in a day. The Government of Saudi Arabia also says that it will continue to evaluate its guidelines and developments related to COVID-19. In July, Saudi Arabia held Haj with very few persons. In general, where 20 lakh people participated in Haj every year, this time only 1000 persons arrived here. The restrictions have now been relieved to a great extent.
