Puri: The country's lockdown had ensued from the month of March due to the epidemic because of which there was a break on the speed of industry-trade and rail-bus. The shrines were also locked. When the unlock began in the country, temples and other religious places were allowed to be opened in many areas, but the Jagannath Temple in Puri in Odisha was still closed. Now, the Jagannath Temple has also been opened from today.

Since the beginning of the lockdown, only priests were getting admission in the temple and continued till December 24. However, for weeks, the Temple Management Committee and the local administration have allowed the families of the temple's pande-priests to visit Lord Jagannath in the temple with full protocol. The temple's service officer, Ipsit Prathari, said that from December 25, the last date of the year, i.e., 31st December, the local people of Puri will be able to visit Lord Jagannath. The days have been fixed according to the ward. Then, on the first and second dates of the next two days, 2021, the temple septum will remain closed for devotees.

The citizens of Jagannath Puri will also have to come up with a certificate of corona negative. At the same time, all protocols of the coronavirus have to be strictly adhered to. There will also be sanitization and it will be mandatory to wear masks, gloves in the hands. Provisions relating to social dissing must also be followed. At the same time, devotees will not be able to touch anything or walls, frames, ladders, railings, etc., including garuda pillars.
