PM Kisan Scheme: 16th Installment to Farmers Scheduled for This Month-End

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana: 16th Payment Soon! - The government of India is gearing up to issue the 16th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana by the end of February, according to an official announcement on the PM Kisan website. This installment is scheduled to be released on February 28.

Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive an annual cash benefit of Rs. 6,000, distributed in three installments of Rs. 2,000 each. The 15th installment, disbursed on November 15 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, provided a total of Rs. 18,000 crore to over 8 crore beneficiary farmers.

Here's how farmers can check their status:

  • Go to pmkisan.gov.in, the official PM-Kisan website.
  • Find the 'Farmer Corner' on the homepage.
  • Click on 'Beneficiary Status.'
  • Select your State, District, Sub District, Block, or Village from the drop-down menu.
  • Click 'Get Report' to view your status.

Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has introduced the PM-Kisan Artificial Intelligence Chatbot (Kisan e-Mitra) in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Odia, Bengali, and English, to assist with farmer complaints.

Who's Not Eligible?

Those excluded from the PM-KISAN scheme are institutional landholders and farmer families whose members have paid income tax in the last assessment year. Also, families with members holding or having held constitutional positions such as mayors of Municipal Corporations, chairpersons of District Panchayats, and former or current members of state legislative assemblies, state legislative councils, Lok Sabha, or Rajya Sabha are not eligible for the scheme's benefits.

Budget Updates

During the presentation of the Interim Budget 2024-25, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized efforts to enhance value addition in the agricultural sector and increase farmers' income. She noted that financial assistance under the PM Kisan Yojana has been provided to 11.8 crore farmers, including marginal and small farmers.
