Gandhinagar: The mortal remains of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mother Heeraben, who died at the age of 100, were consigned to flames in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on Friday. The Prime Minister carried her remains, and she was taken to the crematorium for the last rites.

After the death of Heeraben at the age of 100, Prime Minister reached the house of his younger brother Pankaj Modi in Raisan, Gandhinagar and had the last darshan of his Mom. From there, the body of Heeraba was taken to the crematorium in Sector 30 of Gandhinagar.

Remembering her, PM Modi wrote an emotional message, ‘In mother, I have always felt the trinity that includes the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless karma yogi and a life committed to values.’ Sharing the message, he penned, ‘This glorious century ends at the feet of God. When he met her on 100th birthday, she had said, ‘Work with intelligence and live life with purity.’

Expressing Condolence over the  demise of Prime Minister Modi’s mother, President Draupadi Murmu said – ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraba’s 100 years of struggle is a symbol of Indian ideals. The Prime Minister inculcated the spirit of Matridevobhav’ and the values of Heeraba in his life. I pray for the peace of the holy soul. My condolences to the family!’
