New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all sete to inaugurate "Aadi Mahotsav", the mega National Tribal Festival, on Thursday February 16, at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

The Aadi Mahotsav, which celebrates the spirit of tribal traditional art, culture, crafts and  cuisine is an annual initiative of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

The Prime Minister has led the charge in implementing policies for the welfare of the nation's tribal population while also paying appropriate regard to their contribution to the expansion and development of the nation.

This year, it will take place at Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from February 16 to February 27. The programme will showcase the rich and diverse heritage of tribes from across the country in over 200 stalls at the venue, stated an official release.

At the Mahotsav, almost 1000 tribal artisans will take part.

Along with the customary attractions like handicrafts, handloom, ceramics, jewellery, etc., the Mahotsav will place a special emphasis on exhibiting Shree Anna grown by tribal people because 2023 is being observed as the International Year of Millets.

Since 2023  Aadi Mahotsav is being celebrated as the International Year of Millets, along with usual attractions like handicrafts, handloom, pottery, jewellery etc., a special focus in the Mahotsav will be on showcasing Shree Anna grown by tribals.

In 2021-21, Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited has organized 16 Aadi Mahotsav all across the country. The last Aadi Mahotsav, organised in November 2021, in New Delhi registered a record footfall and was a grand success. More than 500+ artisans attended the festival and transacted business worth over Rs 20 Crores in the two-week-long festival. Over 500 cultural troupes performed at the festival. The festival, graced by several prominent personalities, had on display over 240 stalls and saw a multitude of rich cultural performances. It was a stupendous success.
