Saharanpur: A farmer is rescued by police after an encounter with the kidnappers in Firahedi jungle.  In the gunbattle, the police have also shot dead one of the kidnappers.

According to the report, Four men abducted the farmer Devendra Tyagi and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for his release. The kidnappers gave a call to victim's family members using his own mobile phone. However, the victim's family members informed police which laid a cordon around a field in Firahedi village.

As the kidnappers opened fire on police, a heavy exchange of gunfire ensued between the two sides. One of the kidnappers was killed in the exchange of fire.

 According to a report in Dainik Jagran, one policeman was also injured in the gunfight. report quoted SSP Dinesh Kumar as saying, "We waited for 20 minutes after the firing stopped. Then we move towards the encounter site and found a dead body. We rescued the farmer who was lying nearby in a pit.”

The rescued farmer later said that other three kidnappers fled from the spot after one of them was shot dead during the encounter.
