The country's top singles player Sumit Nagal on Wednesday thwarted local player Jiri Lecheka to make it to the quarter-finals of the Prague Open tennis tournament, where he will face three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka.

Number 127 in the world and sixth seed Nagal here for two hours and 21 minutes of the second round of the 137,560 Euro prize tournament, against the number 617 player in the world 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Won from Nagle, who faced Roger Federer at the US Open last year, will now face stiff competition from Swiss star Wawrinka. Wawrinka beat Germany's Oscar Otte 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 in one hour 54 minutes.

In the same doubles pair of Divij Sharan of the country and Robin Haas of Netherlands defeated Jonas Frostek and Michael Wabenski 6-3, 6-2 to enter the quarter-finals. Another Indian N Sriram Balaji has also reached the last eight of the doubles. He, along with Belgium's Kimer Copayans, defeated Andreas Molteni and Hugo Nees 7-5, 4-6, 10-6. With this, the player has performed extremely well. Jiri Lecheka defeated and entered the final.
