Kurnool: The Srisailam temple is decorated in a grand manner for the nine-day long Dussehra festival (Navratri festival). On the first day of the festival, Brungi Vehicle Service and Saila Purti Alankaram will be conducted. In the Brungi vehicle service, the presiding deities, Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Bhramarambhika Devi, will be decorated in a special way and worshiped after sitting on the Brungi Vaham. As part of Nava Durga Alankaram, Goddess Bhramarambhika Devi will be decorated as Saila Putri.

The two-shouldered goddess will hold a trident in her right hand and a lotus in her left hand. This is the first form of Nav Durga. It is said that worshiping Nav Durga brings good results and luck. Due to prevailing COVID restrictions, village festivals have been put on hold. But Swami Amma Varalu to Prakoorotsavam (Alaya Utsavam) will be held as usual. Due to the stoppage of Gramotsav, LED screens have been arranged in the temple so that the devotees can watch the festival.

Officials said that as part of the festivities, special prayers for Swami Amma Varlu, Amma Varu, Rudra Yagya, Chandi Yagya, Nava Durga Alankaram to Amma Vari Utsav idol and various vehicle services will also be conducted. Officials have said that 49 Rutviks from different places across the state have been invited apart from temple archaka swamis and Veda pandits to organize the nine-day colorful festival in a grand manner.
