The President Pranab Mukherjee today on the day of International Women’s day in New Delhi will give away the Nari Shakti Puraskars. The award is given to eminent women and institutions in recognition of their service towards the cause of women empowerment.

Mr. Mukherjee on his message on International Women’s Day as per the sources news said that generations of Indian women have made an invaluable contribution to the development and progress of the country.

He also said that ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ is an important initiative to prevent female foeticide and provide educational opportunities for female children in the country.On the occasion, the defence ministry will also organize the awareness programme.
