Amritsar: Due to the rapid increase in corona cases in Punjab, CM Capt Amarinder Singh has announced night curfew in 9 districts. The night curfew will be effective from 9 pm to 5 am. CM Amarinder said on Thursday that the night curfew guidelines will be issued by evening, which will continue till the situation is controlled.

In Punjab, the number of new corona patients has increased by four-times between March 1 and 17. On March 1, 500 new cases were registered, while 2045 new cases were reported on March 17. At the same time, the death toll from the corona is also increasing. On Wednesday, 39 people died in one day, while 392 people have died in the past month. The manner in which corona cases are rising again in Punjab is breaking the old record. In the month of September last year, 2067 new cases were registered in a day and now the same number has gone up in March. On the one hand, the vaccine is also being vaccinated, and on the other hand, the death toll in Punjab has reached 6172 so far.

In February, 8,706 cases were reported in Punjab, while around 1,000 new cases were reported every day in March. Punjab recorded 392 deaths between February 15 and March 15, reaching close to 4.5 percent. The state has reported 194 deaths in the past week, while 217 deaths were recorded throughout February.
