New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today paid tribute to the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. He said, 'Nehru was a visionary who laid the foundation of the country with brotherhood, equality and modern outlook'. He reached Shantivan and went there to pay floral tributes on the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of the country.

Apart from him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. Born in 1889, veteran Congress leader Nehru was India's longest-serving Prime Minister. PM Narendra Modi tweeted for him, "My humble tribute to First Prime Minister of the country Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary." Today is the 131st birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. His birthday is celebrated as 'Children's Day'. Born in 1889, veteran Congress leader Nehru was India's longest-serving Prime Minister.

For him, Rahul Gandhi tweeted and wrote, 'Today India is celebrating the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of the country. He was a visionary who laid the foundation of our country with values of brotherhood, equality and modern outlook. ' He also wrote in his tweet, 'Our effort should be to preserve these values.'
