At the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, President Ram Nath Kovind will present Padma awards for the year 2022.

Padma Vibhushan recipients Dr Prabha Atre and Kalyan Singh (Posthumous), Padma Bhushan winners Victor Banerjee, Sanjaya Rajaram (Posthumous), Pratibha Ray, and Acharya Vashishtha Tripathi would be among the major awards during today's Investiture event. On March 21, the Civil Investiture Ceremony- I took place.

The Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awards are given in three categories. These honours are granted in a wide range of sectors and disciplines, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service.

The Padma Vibhushan is given for exceptional and distinguished service, whereas the Padma Bhushan is given for distinguished service of high order and the Padma Shri is given for distinguished service in any field. Every year, on the occasion of Republic Day, the prizes are presented.

The President of India bestows the awards during ceremonial occasions held at Rashtrapati Bhawan. This year, 128 Padma awards will be given out, including two pair cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one). Four Padma Vibhushans, 17 Padma Bhushans, and 107 Padma Shri Awards are among the honorees. Thirty-four of the honorees are women, and there are also ten foreigners /NRI/PIO/OCI on the list, as well as 13 posthumous awardees.
