Chandigarh: The conviction of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was convicted in the murder of former Dera Sachcha Sauda manager Ranjit Singh, is set to be announced today. Tell us that Ranjit Singh was shot dead in 2002. A CBI court on Tuesday will pronounce the sentence on a total of 5 convicts including Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the case.

In view of this, police have made elaborate security arrangements in Panchkula. 17 police nakas have been set up in the city by Panchkula police in which 700 jawans have been deployed. After 19 years in the much-talked about Ranjit Singh murder case, the special court in CBI will pronounce the sentence on rapists Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Krishna Lal, Avtar, Jasvir and Sabdil today. During today's hearing, the main convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim will appear through video conferencing from Sunaria jail in Rohtak. While the accused Krishnalal, Avtar, Jasvir and Sabadil will appear directly in the CBI court. They will be brought to court by the police under tight security guard.

Realizing the seriousness of the case, the police have imposed Section 144 across the city. 17 police nakas have been set up in the city and 700 jawans have been deployed. Earlier on August 25, 2017, a special court in CBI found Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty of sexually abusing two sadhvi. This was followed by violence in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and five other subas including Panchkula.
